Ximena Velázquez-Arenas is a contemporary artist working in the classical and modern painting traditions. The artist grew up in Mexico City and later moved north, earning a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Southern California and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.

The artist’s work is marked by their experience in constant transition, as a first-generation U.S. resident, a last-generation Mexican citizen, a lost-generation Colombian, and a scholar of agency, movement, and migration.

Born in 1990 in San Francisco, California.

Resides and works in Seattle, Washington.
